Third Age Matters
Review of Childsplay by the magazine Third Age Matters
Outdoor theatre work Childsplay examines the different ways children have played outdoors from the 1950s to today. It is about the games that children played. It’s refreshingly informal: they handed us ‘Time Portals’ – headphones and MP3 players – then grab costumes from a supermarket trolley. Headphones go on with radio clips and voices talk about which games they played as children. We were politely forced to join in with skipping, clapping games, football, French and English … every generation had their say and play. By the end it felt as though we were all a happy games family. A great show.
